Making Room for A Tree

We haven't been working on the treehouse for a while. Thanksgiving came and went, then the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach, then Christmas shopping. It was just one thing after another. And to tell you the truth, we had such a hard time with the bottom eaves we are dreading even attempting to install the top eaves. And we had to figure out what to do about the tree that was growing up through the roof. Yes, procrastination set in. But we are back at it now. The hardest eave to put in place had to be built around a maple tree. This was quite a challenge. Royce put a piece of metal up through a hole we left in the roof and created a kind of funnel so the tree can grow up through it.

The hole is not very wide, only a couple of inches bigger around than the tree trunk, so if this tree grows fast, we may have a problem.

But for now the tree has a little more room to grow. Hopefully the small hole won't stunt the tree's growth. Speaking of growth or lack there of. . . This crate sure has come in handy for enabling us to reach places overhead.

Looks like I'm not the only one who's vertically challenged in our family.

Well the ladder would have been too tall to use.
