Got Flooring!

It wasn't long after Royce chased the neighbor's turkey hen out of our yard (missed that picture, maybe next time) that we started on the treehouse floor. I think the hardest part was hauling all those boards up the stairs.

Fearless Sirius followed me up the stairs and was running around Royce before the boards were even nailed down. So Sirius got to go play on the lanai with Mea's cat, Mal.

Some of the boards had to be cut to fit around the poles and trees coming through the floor. Royce carried one of the 12 ' boards up and down those stairs three times before it fit right. That's one way to get a workout!

The nail gun made fast work of nailing the boards into place and the best part was no hammer busting thumbs. It seems I always hit my thumb with a hammer when I'm trying to drive nails. We alternated the sizes of the boards using 8', 10', and then 12'.

Around lunch time we had almost half of the flooring complete and it was time for a break. We had a gourmet lunch of Vienna Sausages, crackers, and iced tea.

As you can see by the look on Royce's face this isn't his favorite lunch. In fact, he really prefers not to eat Vienna Sausages because you can't tell what's in them.

I've developed a taste for them when I was a kid. My Dad and I ate them for lunch when I helped him work, so I still like to eat them occasionally. Royce laughs because I like canned sardines in tomato sauce too. Hey, construction worker food is the best!

After lunch I just had to relax, lay back, and take in the view.
