Digging Electric Lines

We have a tall order to fill. Grandkids want to watch cable, play video games, telephone, and be cool, not only looking cool but actually being cool, weather wise, when up in the tree house. The adults want those same things and a few more added to the list, like running the blender for those stress relief drinks. That takes electricity.

First we had to remove two tall bushes and dig a deep hole to run conduit under our driveway. Electric, phone, and cable takes a lot of digging for the conduit that encases the lines. And since there is trees all over the yard, that means there is roots, roots and more roots.

Digging the trench was an all day job! Is was really slow going. The first foot just below the surface was nothing but roots.

Royce did the hardest part shoveling and cutting through all the roots and I did the rest, shoveling out the dirt creating a trench up to my knees.

When the shovel wouldn't go through the roots, he had to swing an ax.

Katy looks on, supervising our work and trying to figure out just what we are trying to do.

Katy thinks this looks like too much hot work so she leaves to go lay in the cool shade.

Royce just can't belief how thick the roots are in this area, he's frustrated and his hands are getting blistered from swinging the ax.

Just a few more feet to go and the trench is finished.
