Saturday's Lesson

How to Construct a Stairway Post

Things you will need to get started: 1 branch that looks just right and cut to size. 1 electric drill with small drill bit, 1 hammer, 4 nails, 1 long extension cord and 3 family members or friends will work too. Stephaney plugs in the drill to the extension cord and makes sure that it won't come unplugged in the drilling process. Misti holds the branch in place while Nick makes sure it looks good.

Next drill a hole through the branch so it won't split when a nail is driven in it. Misti holds the branch and Nick drills the hole for the nail.

Then get out your hammer and nail the branch onto the stairway. While Misti's holding the branch for Nick she's also watching out for a stray swing from the hammer. Nick does a good job so everyone's fingers and thumbs are intact.

Just a few more hitting the nail on the head and it's finished. Great job!

Taylor tries her turn at hammering the next branch post onto the stairway. Nick lends some assistance but the tip of Taylor's tongue shows us everything is under control.
