Railing, Railing, and Still More Railing

This piece looks interesting with lots of curves. . . Kind of a uniqueness to it. Now if I could only get it to fit right here and nail it in place without dropping it 15 feet to the ground.

There all done. It adds a little personality to the deck corner.

Norbert, our dragon, is in place and Lesley is still working on his twin sister Soubert.

You see Norbert faces north and Soubert will face south. That's how they got their names. Actually Norbert was named after Rubeus Hagrid's baby dragon he hatched from an egg, from the book Harry Potter. I just thought up the part about facing it north, then naming the second one Soubert and facing it south.

We've got almost one side completed.

But there is still a lot more to go before we reach the mid point.

Working on the Railing

Look at today's supervisor of our project. If you click on this picture you can see him up close and personal.

Since we still have more wood burning to do on the posts, we decided to put the branches inbetween today.

We have the corner at the entrance of the upper deck almost completed.

I'm working on the middle section near the walkway that will go around the treehouse.

We have gotten quite a bit done today.

Norbert, the Family Dragon

I would like to introduce one of the guardians of our family treehouse, he just recently got a head on his shoulders.

He took many, many hours to complete, but with patience and endurance he finally came to be. What do you think?

Does he look fierce enough to scare away the squirrels that are starting to gnaw on the branch rails?

Gittum Norbert, singe those squirrels tails!

King Solomon's Codeman

Our Beloved Cody

May 27, 1996 - July 3, 2006

Cody past away today, he will be overseeing our treehouse project from above. He was our friend and always loved us unconditionally. He loved bringing in the newspaper, scratching his back on a skinny pinetree in the yard, barking at passing kids on bikes, chasing squirrels and lizards, and of course digging holes all over the yard. He followed Royce everywhere he went around the yard, always looking out for him.

That's Cody on the left, always in the center of things. We layed him to rest in one of his favorite spots in the yard, beside his back scratching tree. We love him and miss him already and he has only just gone.
