We have had a few rainy day weekends and Royce's Uncle Jim died and we had to fly out to Caliafornia for his funeral, so we couldn't work on the tree house. His family is so awesome, everyone made us feel so welcome. Family came from all over the country and we promised each other that we would keep in touch and visit more often.
We have to get the plywood that we have put up dried in so the water won't ruin it.But first things first. The fir strips and eaves drip has to be put in place, then comes the felt used to dry in the roof.
We're going to start on the little roof over the front dormer. It looks like I'm the only one working, but Royce has stopped long enough to take my picture. It's hard for me to balance, use the nail gun and take pictures all at the same time. He is on the tree house deck cutting the fir strips, handing them up to me, then I nail them in place.
Once I got all the fir strips in place, which took me a while, then Royce cut the eaves drip and I nailed it from the top of the roof. My instructions were: Fir strips nailed from the side, eaves drip from the top. That way the nails don't show on the front of the eaves drip. (You know, something like laying sod, green side up, brown side down.)
You have to get into all kinds of tricky postions to get the job done right. It seemed like it took forever just to do this small part of the roof. Finally I got done and I'm ready for the felt.
Two feet of the roof down and only two hundred more to go. This may take more time than I thought.
