Next Royce is going to run the conduit for the light fixtures along the stairs.

Half Way There

We have reached the half way point in the wiring. The junction box at the bottom of our family tree house is completed. As you can see Royce had a comfortable working environment, a chair and a cool drink on a make shift table.

That wiring looks really complicated. Was that in the book? I hope we don't have to undo something, or even try to figure out which one we may need to undo and redo! That could prove to be quite a challenge.

Wires, Wires & More Wires

Are you wondering how Royce knows what he's doing running electricity out to the tree house? He bought a book. Yep, just like the books he bought when this whole tree house project started more than two years ago. Wow has it been that long ago!

This book is supposed to have all the information you need to know about basic electrical wiring. I guess we will find out if it's all we need to know when we finally get all the wires connected and they actually work.

Today we are working on getting the wiring ran up to the tree house, the four electrical wires , the telephone and cable wires. That silvery one is the telephone wire Mea and I worked so long on. All I can say is it better work.

Royce is getting ready to run the phone wire through the conduit now.

All the wood shavings on the floor is from Royce drilling holes up through the floor for the conduit. We have to get all that mess cleaned up. We still have more to do . . . . See all the electrical boxes that he has to install inside the tree house.

Gone Fishing

Fishing the wire through the conduit was not an easy task. Royce ran an electrical fish tape through the conduit. Fastened the wire to it and pulled it through the conduit. We set up roll of the wire on a spool made from a short wooden pole across two saw horses. I used a wash cloth with some kind of greasy stuff on it to coat the wire.

Royce wound the electrical fishing tape, pulling the wire through from one end of the conduit and I pushed it through at the other.

It was a lot easier said than done. The electrical fishing tape kept getting stuck inside the conduit at the sharp turns. It took a while just to get the fishing tape through the conduit, attach the electrical wire, and then to it to pull it back through the the conduit.

Two wires through and only four more to go.

Electrical Supervisor

Royce is installing the outside porch lights. He cuts out the holes in the porch ceiling and installs the light canisters.

Bridgette keeps a watchful eye on everything he does and stays right by his side.

The porch light is installed and Royce hooks up the conduit pipe so he can run the wires to it later.

Hour after hour the conduit gets connected.

While Royce connects the conduit . . .

Bridgette, our job supervisor, makes sure the job is done right. Good job Bridgette!
