Just in Time for Halloween

This is Herman the spider. He showed up just in time for Halloween and got attached to our treehouse. . . literally. If he knew how much I was afraid of spiders he would think twice about where he chooses to spin his web.

P.S. I named him Herman because he's a Munster to me.

Did I Mention We Have Air Conditioning

We installed this air conditioner back in September and I know it shows up in some of our pictures. However I forgot to mention the trouble we had installing it. Actually Royce installed it twice.

The first time it was too close to the ceiling so he had to lower it.

The air blows out of the top of the front and it would have just blown against the ceiling when we turned it on. That is if we could turn it on. You see the controls are also on the front top. So if you have a big hand or need to read the control knob you might have a problem.

Yeah we had to move it.

Porthole Window

This is the window that will go in the front of the treehouse. I found it on Ebay and thought it would be an interesting addition.

This is the place it is going to go, now all we have to do is nail all the siding on the outside and the window will be one of the finishing touches.

Taking Time Off for the Southeast Street Rod Nationals

Last weekend we took our '56 T-Bird to the Southeast Street Rod Nationals at the Florida State Fair Grounds so we didn't work on the treehouse. During the week I worked on staining the boards for the siding.

At the Nationals there are crafts for sale and other interesting items. I bought a new windchime with a mystical fairy for the trees around the treehouse. I love to hear the chimes as the wind blows through them. It's rather peaceful.

Here is a picture of our progress so far.

Just A Stainin'

Royce got the boards ready for the sides of the treehouse. When I say ready, I mean, he cut them with some kind of router to put a groove in one side of them so they would overlap each other. During the slow times at our business, he had our employees work on them. He worked on the boards also, but most of the work was done by our guys. After that part was finished I started staining them.

Every evening after work I stained a few and layed them out on the saw horses so they could dry.

This took about 2 1/2 weeks working on as many as I could fit on the saw horse each time.

Our next step is to put the eaves in place. I think that will be a challenge.

Today would have been my Dad's birthday, he died back in 1991. Gone but not forgotten. . . Happy Birthday Daddy.
